Getac introduces its first rugged tactical Getac MX50 Tablet – that build from the ground up, for combat-ready military forces, including dismounted war fighters, elite enforcement agencies and Special forces military units. The new MX50 Android-based rugged tactical tablet is battle-ready and designed for the special forces and tactical operators.
“For the first time, tactical operators have a small, lightweight, and a rugged tactical tablet build to their specs,” Scott Shainman, President of Getac said. “Until now, the solution was consumer grade technology for size and familiarity, but that lacked a rugged design and system security – the MX50 changes that.”
Getac MX50 Tablet Features
The tablet features a 5.7 inch IPS display with the screen resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels, the screen also protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass. This is an Android-based tablet and comes with the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. It is designed to meet all data input / output and security needs of the digital dismounted soldier on the modern day battlefield.
The Soc, somewhat surprisingly given to the MX50, is a quad core Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor with a base frequency of 1.44GHz and burst speed up to 1.92GHz. the tactical tablet comes with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and for storage, there is either a 64GB or 128GB of internal eMMC mass storage that can be complemented via MicroSD card.
Standard battery power comes from a 15.5 watt-hour pack, but if you needed more, the company offers an optional bolt-on extension battery. It is MIL-STD 810G and MIL-STD 461 certified and IP67 waterproof.
For consumers who require even stronger protection to secure data-at-rest, the company offers Trivalent protect for encryption, data shredding and secure storage and guarding against unauthorized access.
The company further points out that the tactical MX50 tablet meets the Common Criteria ISO / IEC 15408 computer security certification, NSA’s Commercial Solutions of the classified CSfC platform, and file encryption, data at rest guidelines, which enables commercial components to be used is layered solutions to protect classified national security systems information.
