How to Get Your Gaming Room Just Right

Every gamer needs a perfect gaming room, and here’s what you need to do to get yours just right.

Electronics

Your gaming room is going to need a games console. You probably already have one of these, but if you don’t, the main two contenders on the market are the PS4 and the Xbox One. It’s impossible to say which one is best. Millions of internet arguments have been devoted to that very questions. If you don’t know which one to go for, I’d recommend playing them both if you know anyone who has them and see which you prefer.

Sony console controller

Once you have your console, you need to think about getting the right television. There are now Ultra HD and 4K televisions entering the market, so you might want to invest in one of those. But if they’re out of your price range, a big HD plasma screen will do just fine!

Furniture

The first thing you need to think about in terms of furniture is your chairs. Gaming chairs can be pretty expensive, but they’re definitely worth it. There’s nothing better than kicking back and relaxing in a gaming chair while you play. They add to the overall gaming experience, so shop around for the best deals.

You’ll probably also need a sofa for when you have friends round, and you want to play multiplayer games. You’ll also need to think about computer desks, storage and other essentials. Remember, you’ll need somewhere to put your games and movies, so a big storage unit is a must.

Lighting

What type of lighting your room needs depends on what you want to use it for. If you are mainly going to be playing games using a console and television, your lighting will only need to be basic. You’ll probably have low lighting when you’re playing anyway. This is why I’d recommend using a dimmer light so you can adjust light levels manually.

Some gamers like to use coloured LED lights. They place them behind the television to create an interesting, atmospheric lighting effect. It’s something to consider. LED lights are really cheap and easy to install. They’ll give your room a new twist, preventing it from being too dull or conventional.

Table Games

Not all games have to be brand new and shiny. Sometimes you can have the most fun by going back to basics. Why not try some table games? You can easily find a cheap second-hand table football set or something similar. If you have enough space to fit one in your gaming room, you should definitely consider it.

If you have some money to splash, you could invest in an old school arcade game. Arcade machines are nostalgic for a lot of people who grew up playing them, and you can buy them online nowadays. They just get thrown out when they are no longer wanted, so you can get them really cheaply now.

If you follow my tips above, your gaming room will be fit for purpose and ready to use in no time!
