Logitech has been making some one of the best Bluetooth speakers out there for quite some time and continues to push the boundaries of innovation, performance and design in its portable wireless speakers with the addition of UE ROLL 2 to its vibrant new lineup of anywhere-you-go-proof wireless mobile speakers.

The UE Roll 2, which offers a couple of the modest improvements over the original. For starters, it plays louder. About 15 percent louder according to UE. Most importantly, it has a longer wireless range of up to 30 meters or 98 feet. And it ships with a UE Floatie, so you can take it into the pool along with you right out of the box.

The UE Roll is super-portable, mostly flat, rugged and so waterproof you can also bring it into a pool with its own little floatie. The sound quality is amazing for small form factor and the battery lasts between five-to-ten hours. This is the speaker I take with me on most trips because it’s small in the backpack yet still sounds great, pairs easily with multiple devices and even has iOS/Android applications for creating alarms and checking battery. Obviously if you are throwing a house/pool party, you’ll want something more substantial like UE Boom and Megaboom.

The UE Roll 2’s key specs:

Outputs 15 percent more sound.
Colors: tropical anime, sugarplum, reef, volcano, habanero and atmosphere
Has a longer wireless range of 100 feet.
Completely waterproof (IPX7)
9 hours of battery life
Includes UE Floatie, a small blow-up doughnut
Bungee cord loop to hang the speaker anywhere; so you can attach it to a bag, bike or belt loop
$100, £79 or AU$149 (available in Australia later this year)

There is also a 3.5mm headphone port for attaching non-Bluetooth gadgets. The American company has dropped the price for this new version as well. When the original came out it was £100, but the UE Roll will set you back £80.
