GARMIN launched a new fitness tracker called “Approach X40” and it has a specific appeal for golfers looking to keep active. It is a slim and lightweight band with GPS built in for calculating distances from the green and hazards like sand traps and Golfers will find the Approach X40 is pre-loaded with data on over 40,000 courses around the world.
This new device features 1-inch touchscreen, tracking for calories burned and a heart rate monitor, distance, daily steps, hours of sleep and time of day. It is water-resistant and can be handle a slew of smartphone notifications like incoming calls, texts, emails and calendar reminders.
Garmin made it compatible with its TruSwing club sensor, giving you also access to various swing metrics via the Connect app. When paired, the X40 provides golfers with useful swing metrics in real time and 3 dimension animations in Garmin Connect so golfers can see how their individual mechanics affect their ball flight and shot results, which is available for the Android and iOS. When you’re playing a round, it can used as a digital scorecard, tracking key data like fairways hit, putts per round and greens in regulation to help in improving the game.
The Approach X40 is the latest solution from Garmin’s expanding outdoor segment, that focus on innovations and developing technologies to enhance users’ outdoor experiences. Garmin plans to begin shipments in the 2nd quarter of 2016, and will offer the wearable in black, white, and frost blue for the suggested retail price of $249.99.
