A luxury Car Brand, Mercedes has showcase its new GLC Coupe at the New York motor show. At launch, you will have eight GLC Coupes to choose from, That car gets the twin-turbo V6 biturbo seen in other 43 AMGs, together with 367bhp and the ability to hit 62mph in under 5 seconds. Quick, then. All come with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, except the hybrid, which makes do with seven gears.
The base model gets a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder with 241 horsepower and 273 pound feet of torque, while the GLC43 car will do battle against the X4 M40i with a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 that is good for 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with Mercedes’ new 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel-drive sys.
Unsurprisingly, the design is heavily influenced by the larger GLE Coupe, with the similar sloping roofline, narrow rear window and big tail-lights. The front end is identical to the regular GLC on which it’s based.
The Coupe is 80mm longer and 40mm wider than the regular GLC, and slightly longer than the X4. Optional kit that help the car stand out even further includes side running boards and 20-inch alloys.
Standard kit on entry-level models includes 18-inch alloys, keyless start, Artico artificial leather and a reversing camera, as well as Collision Prevention Assist. AMG Line-spec cars bring sports seats, too, but exact UK specs have yet to be confirmed
Four diesel and four petrol models will be sold in Europe, although UK buyers are likely to be offered only the GLC 220d model and GLC 250d diesels. Both will come with 4MATIC four-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
